(re)present 2017: Call for Performers & Show Info!

SBFT is looking for performing artists for our annual showcase (re)present! (re)present aims to promote Asian Pacific Islander American performing artists within the South Bay Area. If you or your group would like to join our lineup, please fill out the form below. If you have recently performed with us, you are welcome to join us again with a different performing art. The show will be held at the Theatre on San Pedro Square on May 4, 2017.
  • All acts must be 5-10 minutes long
  • If solo performance, performer must have some API heritage.
  • If group performance, at least one member must have some API heritage.

Let us recognize and reflect on the journey and experiences of current and past refugees. Join us for a deeper look into the impact of xenophobia on refugees, the challenges they are able to overcome, and discover the great work community organizations are able to provide for this population.

    API Film Festival

    The cinema, like the detective story, makes it possible to experience without danger all the excitement, passion and desirousness which must be repressed in a humanitarian ordering or life (Jung, 2001).

    Come and experience all the excitement and passion in South Bay First Thursday's 2016 API Film Fest. Each year we provide an outlet for talented API filmmakers, actors, and directors to showcase their short films, providing the audience with an opportunity to recognize the art in film.

    Stuck In Traffic: Recognizing Human Trafficking in the API Community

    More than 50 percent of identified trafficking victims were born in the United States; 19 percent in Mexico; and 18 percent in Asia (Juniper Network, 2014). Join SBFT in a special panel to discuss the prevalence of Human Trafficking in the Bay Area, how it affects the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community, and the steps we can take to prevent, recognize, and fight human trafficking through a special workshop from the organization, “Love Never Fails.”
